Sky Ranch FAQ’s

Will my camper have to be tested to be able to attend camp this
summer?

No.  Campers will receive a health screening questionnaire via email prior to arrival that needs to be
completed and returned within 24 hours of camp. All campers will undergo a temperature check upon arrival.  Should a camper present a fever of 100.0 or higher on the initial check, the camper will be asked to visit a secondary screening area.  Confirmed presence of a fever of 100.0 or higher will necessitate cancellation or rescheduling of a camper’s visit to later in the summer. Additionally, all campers and staff will be required to have daily temperature checks upon arrival.

What will camper drop off and daily pick up look like?

Camper drop off and pick up will look pretty different this year. We will be providing a drive-through
camper drop off and anticipate it taking a little longer, as we will be doing temperature checks of each camper every morning.  Parents will be asked to remain in their cars throughout the process.
Camper pick up will also be done as a drive through, with parents remaining in their car.  You will follow
signs and directions upon arrival to drop off and you will need to be prepared with your driver’s license to pick up your camper each day. We will be sending out communication in the days prior to camp detailing all procedures and any updates to arrival times and schedules.  We are grateful for your patience as we work to make camper drop off and pick up as quick and efficient as possible.  PLEASE NOTE: Friday pick up will be at 3:00.

Will campers and staff be required to wear masks during camp?

Sky Ranch will provide each camper with a neck gator (buff) that can be used as a face covering. Masks
don’t feel like camp, but buffs have been part of camp culture long before they were needed as face coverings. Campers can wear them around their neck, on their wrist or even in their hair when they are in their cabin groups and will not be covering their faces. Face coverings will not be required when interacting with their own cabin group (cohort). They will only be used when physical distancing from other cabin groups is not possible.  They will be utilized by staff when unable to maintain physical distancing with campers outside of their cabin group.  Keeping our campers safe is paramount at Sky Ranch, and we can keep the spirit of camp alive by doing this with buffs. If you prefer sending your camper with their own face covering, you are welcome to do so.

What constitutes a “cabin group”?

In line with government guidelines and industry best practices, your campers will spend most of their time at Day Camp within a specific “cabin group” (sometimes referred to as “cohort”). Cabin groups are
simply a group of campers & Sky Ranch counselors from similar cabins.  Because we work to maintain physical distancing between different cabin groups, campers will not be asked to wear face coverings while they eat, play games, do activities and hang out within their own cabin group.  Functioning in
cabin groups allows your camper to enjoy an amazing Day Camp experience, building life-giving relationships with other campers and our incredible counselors, while simultaneously reducing the risk of COVID-19 exposure by limiting the number of overall people your camper interacts with during their
time at Day Camp. We will continue to honor cabin group (roommate) requests for your camper to be with up to 3 other friends (4 campers total in a chain). We cannot accommodate groups larger than 4 or guarantee that your camper will be with specific friends in their cabin groups.

What are your procedures for counselors?

Staff will be arriving a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of camp for training.  All staff will complete a health screening and undergo routine temperature checks.  Counselors will also operate in cabin groups for the summer and have limitations during time off.

What if a camper or staff member is showing symptoms of COVID-19 or any other illness?

We will isolate any camper or staff exhibiting COVID-19 like symptoms immediately, caring for your child until the parents or guardians are notified and can pick up their camper Campers/Staff will be sent home.

What additional safety measures are you putting in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19?

  • Organizing day campers in cabin groups (cohorts)

  • Increase hand washing and  additional hand sanitizing stations

  • Adjusting activity schedules based on cabin groups
to eliminate or modify large group programming, campers will participate in our
traditionally offered activities as a cabin group

  • Signage posted to reinforce important behaviors

  • Daily temperature checks in addition to our regular
    health screenings

  • Added camper education about good hygiene practices
